Steps to a Complete Desktop Analysis

Here are the steps to a complete desktop analysis:

  • Step 1
Register at www.analyzeyourdesktops.com/now and enter your infrastructure information.

  • Step 2
Download and deploy the Desktop Sampler to your desktop infrastructure. The RES Desktop Sampler will collect all the required data per user session.

Deploying the RES Desktop Sampler can be done in two different ways:
    • Included as part of the login script of each user. This means that you don’t have to install the Desktop Sampler as product to each desktop. It will start the analysis the first time the user logins to his or her desktop. This method is zero-touch.
    • Deploy the Desktop Sampler with your existing software distribution system.

In both methods, sample files are collected on a network share in your network.

  • Step 3
When all the sampling is done, you login in to www.analyzeyourdesktops.com/now with your personal account to upload the samples.
  • Step 4
After uploading the sample files, the RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer will convert the desktop samples into a full desktop analysis report using Windows Azure services. The uploaded sample files will be deleted right after the reports have been created.
  • Step 5
You will receive an email confirmation to download the complete report. When you login to www.analyzeyourdesktops.com/now, you can download each report. The reports will remain available for 60 days.

BDANOTE: We guarantee that the information you uploaded will not be shared with any other parties. RES Software owns a private Windows Azure database containing your information, and the only person who can access your report is you. More detailed information on the security of Windows Azure can be found here .
