Getting Started with RES BDA

To begin the analysis, you’ll register for the RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer online at http://www.resbaselinedesktopanalyzer.com/. Once logged in, you can easily download and deploy the data collection tool that works in conjunction with RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer, RES Desktop Sampler, across your user-base, either through a pre-configured login script or by using an existing software distribution system. After collecting live samples, you upload these files directly to the RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer using your secure login credentials. Windows Azure helps power a full analysis of this data, and you will instantly receive access to comprehensive reports outlining the analysis of your desktop population.

RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer fully integrates with RES Workspace Manager,  so organizations looking to move forward with desktop transformation projects can stream the data captured by the analysis into RES Workspace Manager. RES Workspace Manager will then construct the ideal user workspace for your organization. Once in place, RES Workspace Manager helps you separate your users’ applications, settings and data from the underlying hardware, OS and delivery platforms. This helps simplify structural changes to the IT environment and reduce complexity in hybrid desktop environments because a user’s personalization and configuration will persist across all delivery methods, devices and operating systems.

This information will help with many questions you might have regarding a possible change in your desktop infrastructure. Questions like:

  • What users do we migrate first?
  • When implementing Virtual Desktops, how will this impact our current desktop users with local printers
  • How many users access multiple devices which requires challenging roaming profiles
  • How do we migrate user data and settings?
  • How do we right size our systems for this next migration?
